Humpy wins the first gold for India

Humpy brought huge cheers to the country that's waiting for its first Gold at Doha Asian games by winning the gold in rapid chess. This achievement is even more significant after a not so bright display by shooters so far who were expected to win. Another section that failed miserably was men's doubles in tennis. Paes and Bhupathi should not have played together after their fall out and it was going to yield only one kind of result all the way-failure. Mahesh Bhupathi should not have been included in the team after he declared he would not play for India in future a few weeks ago. A player should consider it as an honour to represent the country at games like Asiad and Olympics. If they do not think so, they need not be selected.

It was funny to see Bhupathi being cajoled by tennis federation to represent India. And the result is out there for every one to see. Get rid of the players who are not proud to represent their country, we do not need them.

Coming to the bright news, Humpy has proved once again that she's now the best sports woman in India with the kind of results she has been achieving. She is currently ranked 2nd in the world in Womens' chess.

Time we moved over the so called "sania mania" and recognised the best talent we've got. It's disgusting to see Humpy struggling to fund her trips to participate in chess tournaments while sania enjoying the best of the deals. There should be a balance somewhere.

The media should also focus on the talent, results and consistency not on x-factor. Let us leave that for reality shows on television.

Notwithstanding these failures,Kabaddi team is doing well and so is Rathode in individual double trap. I am just hoping that Humpy's win serves as a right cue for the rest.
